Facilities

Staff will have access to PCs connected to the campus network from their office, while students can use PCs in the Computer Laboratories. All PCs have the following operating systems or have access to systems which run on the campus network:

  • Desktops

Local operating system is installed on desktop PCs for staff and in the computer laboratories. They are running Windows 2000/Windows 98/Linux. Common local applications installed include word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tools, Internet tools, anti-virus and communication tools.

  • Campus Network

PCs are configured to allow users to login to the campus network system where users can access facilities like electronic mail and networked printers. Network disk space is also given to each staff and computer major student on the file servers for saving files and documents. Some teaching software and materials are also available in this environment. Through the campus network, users can connect to the Internet via fiber broadband connected to local ISP.

  • Windows Servers and Linux Servers

Windows Server and Linux operating system provide connection to the Internet and email facilities.
