Associate of Business Administration in Tourism and Marketing Management

The Associate of Business Administration in Tourism and Marketing Management Programme (ABATMM) is multi-disciplinary in nature, and seeks to equip students with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for entry into the tourism and marketing fields, in the subject areas of tourism, marketing and business administration. The Programme also aims to lay a basic foundation necessary for graduates of the Programme to pursue further studies. Emphasis on practicality, communication and interpersonal relations is also a feature of the Programme.

It is expected that graduates of the Programme will have ample opportunity to be employed as trainees, marketing trainees or marketing assistants in the tourism industry, especially in travel and transport, hotels, and event and leisure facilities. The Hong Kong Tourism Board and Tourism Commission also employ tourism graduates in their work relating to the development and promotion of tourism for Hong Kong.

Associate in Hospitality Management

The Associate of Hospitality Management Programme (AHM) is a multi-disciplinary programme which aims to prepare students to become a professional hospitality practitioner. The Programme offers specialized streams of Hotel Operations (HO), Foodservice (FS) and Culinary Arts (CS) to equip students with operational skills and knowledge required to work for the industry.

All skill-based lessons will be conducted in hotel and students are also required to complete a six-month Industrial Placement to gain relevant solid experience in real working situations. In addition, emphasis will also be placed on inter-personal skills, communication and language skills including Putonghua and Japanese/French. This is to increase students' employability and equip students with necessary knowledge and skills for further studies.

Associate of Science in Business Information Systems

The Associate of Science in Business Information Systems Programme aims to provide a well-balanced education in Information Systems in the business context. It therefore aspires to prepare graduates for either starting a career in the IT industry as an "IT officer" in SMEs, capable of performing the technical duties at a professional standard, or alternatively, advancing their studies to Degree level and beyond in the IT, Business or related domains.

Graduates of this Programme are given two options. The first is to opt for a career in the IT industry by starting at a junior rank to contribute to a role of liaison between the end users and the technical experts in such positions as an End User Support, Web site maintenance support, business analysis assistant. The second is to pursue Degree level study at local or overseas universities.

Associate of Social Science in Social Work*

The Associate of Social Science in Social Work (ASSSW) Programme* is offered by the Department of Social Sciences. The Programme aims at equipping students with the essential knowledge and skills for effective delivery of social work services. The Programme also aims at enabling students to develop a caring attitude and social work values which would lead to the qualities of caring for the deprived and needy, with a commitment to social responsibility, community building and social justice. A holistic education will be provided to students for enhancement of their personal integrity and capacity as competent human service professionals.

The Programme is designed to lay a strong foundation for students in both theories and practice relating to social work, social science knowledge and its application, and to prepare them for entry into a diverse range of social work settings. To provide students with a broad and enriched learning experience and to enhance their intellectual and personal development, the Programme also includes General Education (GE) and different required courses in the curriculum.


*Apart from the extant Full-time programme, the Institute is going to establish the Associate of Social Science (Social Work) part-time programme in the coming academic year.
