The Department is committed to
providing students with a holistic education by offering social
science programmes and general education courses to stimulate students’
intellectual growth and personal development. Members of the teaching
staff are well-qualified in the areas of social sciences, including
sociology, economics, cultural studies and social work. They aspire
to achieve a high level of quality in scholarly and professional
activities and are dedicated to the nurture and welfare of students.
In addition to the General Education courses offered through the
General Education Office, the Department launched the Associate
of Social Science in Social Work (ASSSW) Programme in September
2004. Specialists in various sectors of social work/welfare have
been recruited and the Department also maintains a good network
with professionals and potential employers in the social work field.
This aims to seek substantive support for students and, at the same
time, to enhance the graduates’ employment opportunities.
The Department has kept in close contact with local and overseas
institutions of higher education. This establishes opportunitiesfor
further studies for graduates. |
