Admission Requirements

Associate Degree Programmes

Foundation Year Entry

For admission to Foundation Year of the Associate Degree programmes, applicants must satisfy ONE of the following admission requirements:

      a. have obtained a pass# in at least five subjects, including Chinese Language and English Language,
          in the HKCEE;

OR

      b. have successfully completed the Project Yi Jin and obtained a pass# in Chinese Language and
          English Language in the HKCEE;

OR

      c. have obtained a pass# in at least five subjects but not including Chinese Language and / or    
         English Language in the HKCEE;

OR

     d. have successfully completed the Project Yi Jin, but have not obtained a pass# in Chinese Language
         and / or English Language in the HKCEE;

OR

     e. have obtained an equivalent qualification.


Applicants categorised under (c) or (d), if admitted, are required to pass respective course(s) of the Intensive Programme offered by the College, namely, Intensive Chinese Language and / or Intensive English Language, which correspond(s) to Chinese Language and English Language in the HKCEE before graduation.


Year 1 Entry

For admission to Year 1 of the Associate Degree programmes, applicants must satisfy the following admission requirement:

      a. have obtained a pass in one Advanced Level (AL) subject or two Advanced Supplementary
          Level (AS) subjects in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE), plus 5 passes#
          in the HKCEE including Chinese Language and English Language;

OR

      b. have obtained an equivalent qualification.


Higher Diploma Programmes

Year 1 Entry

For admission to Year 1 of the Higher Diploma programmes, applicants must satisfy ONE of the following admission requirements:

      a. have obtained a pass# in the HKCEE in at least 5 subjects, including

  • Chinese Language,
  • English Language, and
  • Mathematics

       in one sitting;

OR

      b. have successfully completed Secondary 5 but have not obtained at least five passes# in the
          HKCEE including

  • Chinese Language,
  • English Language, and
  • Mathematics

        in one sitting. These applicants, if admitted, must pass the Intensive Programme offered by the College         before graduation. The Intensive Programme includes Intensive Chinese Language, Intensive English         Language and Intensive Mathematics;

OR

       c. have obtained an equivalent qualification.


Year 2 Entry

For admission to Year 2 of the Higher Diploma programmes, applicants must satisfy ONE of the following admission requirements:

      a. have obtained a pass in

  • one Advanced Level (AL) subject, AND
  • one Advanced Supplementary Level (AS) subject

      in the HKALE in one sitting;

OR

      b. hold at least three LCCI Third Level passes in one sitting;

OR

      c. hold a recognised two-year post Secondary 5 diploma / certificate. These applicants must also have at           least five passes# in the HKCEE including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics;

OR

      d. have successfully completed Secondary 7 and passed the College Entrance Test;

OR

      e. have obtained an equivalent qualification.

#From 2007 onwards, applicants should obtain Level 2 or above in the Chinese Language and the English Language subjects in the HKCEE in order to get a pass grade in the subject.

#Prior to 2007, applicants should obtain Grade E or above in the Chinese Language and the English Language subjects in the HKCEE in order to get a pass grade in the subject.


Daytime Top-up Bachelor's Degree Programmes

For admission to the Daytime Top-up Bachelor's Degree programmes, applicants must satisfy the following admission requirement stipulated by the respective universities:

     a. hold a Caritas Francis Hsu College Higher Diploma;

OR

     b. have obtained an equivalent qualification.

Applicants from outside Hong Kong

An applicant with an acceptable alternative qualification may apply for admission to any one of the programmes offered by the College and will be considered on an individual basis. The applicant should have desirable competencies in Chinese (including Cantonese) and English, which facilitate better understanding of course contents delivered via bilingual instruction in the two languages.


Applicants Who Are Non-native Speakers of Chinese

Applications will be considered on an individual basis.


Mature Applicants

Applicants aged 21 or above on or before 1 September of the year when admission is sought may apply for exemption from the admission requirements provided that they can furnish acceptable evidence to testify that:

     a. they have sufficient work experience in their chosen field of study;

OR

     b. they have demonstrated ability to pursue their chosen field of study.

Mature applicants will be considered by the College on a case-by-case basis. Mature applicants, if admitted, might be required to take respective course(s) of the Intensive Programme offered by the College.


Transfer Students

An applicant who has completed at least one year of studies at a local or overseas college or university recognised by the College may apply as a transfer student for admission to the College. Subsequent to successful admission, the student may then submit full details of his / her previous academic record to apply for exemption from taking equivalent courses offered by the College. Under normal circumstances, a transfer student will be granted the due credit exemption amounting to no more than half of the total credits required for graduation.


Course Exemption

At the beginning of the academic year, students who have obtained qualifications recognised by the College to be of equivalent standing and status may apply for exemption from taking the corresponding course(s) offered by the College. The application is subject to assessment by the academic department(s) / unit concerned and is approved by the Registrar.
