The Institute currently offers five Higher Diploma (HD) programmes are they are:

  1. Higher Diploma in Accounting Studies

  2. Higher Diploma in Corporate Management

  3. Higher Diploma in Computing Studies

  4. Higher Diploma in Human Services

  5. Higher Diploma in Translation and Interpretation

All five HD programmes were validated by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) and they are taken to be comparable in standing and standard with other HD programmes offered at tertiary institutions in Hong Kong and overseas.

Higher Diploma in Accounting Studies

The aim of the Higher Diploma in Accounting Studies Programme is to provide students with vocationally-oriented education which enables them to assume roles in the accounting, auditing, and taxation fields where they can apply their knowledge, techniques and skills. The Programme helps students to develop a holistic personality by introducing a broad spectrum of knowledge and by training them to be critical thinkers, independent learners, and ethical and responsible individuals. It also provides a ladder of opportunity along which students may advance through further studies and/or professional examinations.

Higher Diploma in Corporate Management

The Higher Diploma in Corporate Management is a multi-disciplinary programme that aims to prepare students for pursuing a career in the corporate administration fields. To this end, the Programme seeks to equip students with the fundamental and multi-disciplinary knowledge and skills in the domains of management, law and accounting. Emphasis on communication, interpersonal relations and IT skills is also a feature of the Programme.

Graduates of the Programme are equipped for a wide range of job entries in the private and public sectors, leading ultimately to careers such as company secretary, business administrator, and financial administrator. Experience shows that there are ample employment opportunities for graduates of the Programme.

Higher Diploma in Computing Studies

The Higher Diploma in Computing Studies Programme aims to provide students with a vocationally-focused education in Computing Studies for the development and deployment of IT based information systems. Its aspiration is the preparation of graduates either to play the role of IT workers capable of performing technical and supporting duties in business organisations at professional standard, or alternatively to advance their studies to degree level and beyond in the IT or related domains.

Graduates can opt for a career in the computer industry by starting as a junior professional in programming, sales support, business systems analysis, end-user training and consulting in various functional areas, including accounting, marketing, finance and human resource management in such organisations as banks, insurance companies, governmental agencies and public utilities. They can alternatively further their education in computing or related fields.

Higher Diploma in Human Services

The programme prepares students to establish a career in the field of human services. It empowers students to develop helping relationships in a variety of settings. Students are equipped with a broad understanding of the issues and challenges within the human services sectors. Students are expected to demonstrate competence to apply basic knowledge and skills required as an associate professional in human services provision, further study in selected fields, and become critical thinkers and problem-solvers.

Graduates may choose to work in public, non-government and private organizations. They may seek employment in community services, educational and medical institutions as administrative assistants, organizers, programme co-ordinators, health promoters and academic assistants.

Higher Diploma in Translation and Interpretation

The Higher Diploma in Translation and Interpretation Programme seeks to equip students with the essential knowledge in translation and interpretation so that they can proceed to further studies. Its curriculum also covers substantial practical training whereby graduates can sit for a qualifying examination of a professional nature and meet the standards in diverse workplace settings.

Graduates of this Programme are well-prepared for careers as translators / interpreters in both the public and the private sectors. They may take up other positions such as advertising agents, administrators, public relations officers, journalists, and editors. Alternatively, they may practise translation and interpreting on a freelance basis.
