Book Collection Book collection includes English and Chinese books, and conference proceedings. The stitch-bound books and some less frequently used books are housed in closed stacks. Library users may search for these books on the OPAC and request them at the Circulation Counter. The majority of books in the Library can be checked out for a loan period according to the borrowing regulations. Collections
in western languages are classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification
(DDC) Scheme which groups together all materials of the same subject.
Materials are shelved in numerical order by main class and by alphabetical
order of the author's code, followed by publication date, volume number
and copy number.
The oriental language collection is classified according to Lai's Classification Scheme which groups together all materials of the same subject.
